How many French lessons per week do you really need?

"How long will it take me to be fluent?" This is a question I get every week. While everyone learns at a different pace, the frequency of your lessons is the biggest factor in how quickly you will see results.
Based on 29 years of teaching, here is my professional recommendation for different goals.

The "Steady Progress" Pace (1 lesson per week)
This is perfect for busy professionals or those learning for fun. It keeps the language fresh in your mind without being overwhelming. However, you must commit to 15 minutes of "homework" or listening daily to maintain your momentum.

The "Fast-Track" Pace (2 to 3 lessons per week)
If you are moving to France, preparing for a job interview, or have a specific deadline, this is the "sweet spot." This frequency allows us to cover new material in one lesson and dedicate the next entirely to conversation and reinforcement. This is where I see the most dramatic breakthroughs in confidence.

The "Total Immersion" Pace (Daily or Intensive)
For those who need results now, I offer intensive options and even in-person immersion stays here in La Flotte. When you live and breathe the language for a short, intense period, your brain switches to French much faster.

Why consistency beats intensity
It is better to have two 60-minute lessons every week than to do five hours once a month. My lessons are adapted to your rhythm, ensuring you stay motivated without burning out.
